If you’re considering teaching but want to experience what life in the classroom is really like before committing, our Paid Internship Programme is the perfect opportunity.

Students in their 2nd, 3rd, or final year of an undergraduate degree, as well as those studying for a Master’s, are invited to complete a three‑week paid internship at one of the Marches Academy Trust secondary schools.

  • Personalised support with your Initial Teacher Training (ITT) application
  • Interview preparation guidance

What to Expect – The Programme

A structured, three‑week in‑school experience designed to immerse you in the teaching profession.

Week 1

Theme/Focus – Introduction to Teaching & Observation

Key Outcomes – Develop awareness of teaching and learning

Week 2

Theme/Focus – Co-planning & Supporting Learning

Key Outcomes – Engage in lesson planning and introductory teaching tasks

Week 3

Theme/Focus – Microteaching & Career Pathways

Key Outcomes – Practice teaching and explore routes into Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Dates

 

Internships can be completed during any three‑week block, starting on either 1st June 2026 or 22nd June 2026.

 

 

Placement Schools

 

Internships are available at the following Marches Academy Trust schools, in the named subjects:

  • Sir John Talbot’s School, Whitchurch, Shropshire – Physics, Chemistry
  • The Marches School, Oswestry, Shropshire – Physics, Chemistry, Design & Technology, Mathematics, Computing, Languages
  • Idsall School, Shifnal, Shropshire – Languages (French), Computing
  • Grove School, Market Drayton – Languages (German & Spanish), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

When applying you will be asked to select your preferred school and subject.

The Alliance of Leading Learning networks with many different schools across the West Midlands.  We have a cluster of 21 primary schools and 10 secondary schools including several independent schools. This large cluster means that we can provide a varied training programme, filling any gaps in the existing school experience that trainees have undertaken. We offer placements from Nursery through to Key Stage 5.
