NPQH is for school leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, a headteacher or head of school with responsibility for leading a school.
The aim of the NPQH is to enable participants to gain an understanding of the expertise and approaches required to set an ambitious vision for their school, as well as learning how to establish a culture where staff and pupils can thrive.
Following completion of the NPQH, participants will have covered the following ten areas:
The NPQH programme is delivered over an 18 month period with 4 modules. At the end of the taught elements you will undertake a summative assessment.
Below is a breakdown of how the programme is delivered and the time commitment.
Formative assessment takes place throughout the programme, helping you understand the progress you are making, and facilitators to adapt your learning experiences.
Summative assessment takes the form of a 2500-word response to a case study, completed in a single 8-day window at the end of your programme. The assessment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate how you would deploy the knowledge, skills and understanding gained through the NPQ to lead and implement a specific aspect of change.
We want to Invest in our leaders: Our NPQH is delivered at quality conferencing facilities – at no extra cost.
‘Fantastic day we were worked hard however I feel like I have learnt lots and had a fantastic experience. Speakers were great and very thought provoking – a really worthwhile experience and thoroughly enjoyed.’
Rhian Williams, Executive Principal St James CE Primary School and Gorton Primary School
‘The facilitators are extremely competent, inspiring speakers who between the three of them have a special blend that kept me engaged. I left feeling not only more self-aware, but certainly more in tune and aligned with the goals / want to achieve in my school. Thank you for the opportunity and instilling me with strategies and tactics that leave me feeling better equipped for the icebergs around the corner.’
Jamie Rogers, Deputy Headteacher, Priestmead Primary School and Nursery
‘The NPQH course has changed my view on external CPD. This is the first real external CPD I’ve found that is absolutely supportive of my role and invested in improving both my capacity to cope with relentless demands of the day to day (rather than adding to the workload) and in helping to secure my next role. I am a better leader as a result of the support, guidance and challenge. The online content you can manage without it feeling burdensome because the quality of the materials and the way they are presented make the experience challenging and enjoyable. The face to face days are simply something to look forward to. Paul is overwhelmingly brilliant; you are absolutely engaged in his throughs and anecdote’s; his experiences and humour mean you spend the day challenged, but smiling. Claire’s words simply make you think, she has such a way of presenting things that make you pause in your thoughts and question things you thought were secure in your mind. I could not recommend the course enough, but what makes it exceptional is the quality of the team delivering.’
Jim Taylor, Headteacher, Shrewsbury Academy
