What does the programme include?

The Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO) is a new programme of opportunities launched by the Department for Education. This targeted one-year support package has been tailored to the needs of new headteachers.

It provides structured, unassessed support and networking based on the best available evidence about what makes an effective headteacher.    You can complete it alongside the national professional qualification (NPQ) for headship, or recently after taking the NPQ in headship.

LLSE offer a highly flexible programme tailored to your needs as a Headteacher meeting your individual needs and circumstance.

The Offer

Each term there are a series of events, both in-person and online to engage with covering a wide range of topics.

In its entirety the offer comprises of:

  • Peer Networking and School Visits – identify an area of school life and leadership you would like to learn more about and use our school visits directory to find a school who are happy to host your visit. You will be able to contact the school directly and arrange your visit, thereby allowing you to tailor the time, focus and duration of your visit to meet your needs.
  • Coaching – 3 x 90-minute coaching sessions with an executive coach of your choice. You can select a coach to work with from our Executive Coaching Directory. With three sessions over twelve months, you have the opportunity to find the time and space to reflect on your progress from one academic year to the next.
  • Access to monthly webinars and articles covering a wide range of topics enabling you to interact with other leaders from across the country and beyond.
  • Access to an online resource library with research materials enabling you to make evidence informed decisions about practices in your own leadership and across your school.
