DfE registration and funding

Great news! The DfE has announced there will be 10,000 scholarship funded places made available nationally for the Spring 2025 intake of NPQs.

There will be no change to the eligibility criteria for this Spring intake.

  • All state-maintained schools and academies in England will be eligible for full scholarship funding for the NPQH and NPQ SENCO
  • The 50% of schools with the highest % pupil premium enrolment will be eligible for full scholarship funding for the wider suite of NPQs (DfE will share an update list of eligible schools with providers shortly)

All of our NPQ Providers are currently accepting applications for programmes in April 2025.

If you do not have a TRN 

If you do not have a TRN (Teacher Reference Number), you will need to apply for one at request a TRN before you can register via the DfE portal when it opens. Please ensure you apply for this at the same time as beginning your  application to avoid any delay in joining the programme.

The Alliance of Leading Learning work with three different NPQ providers.    Firstly, please select the programme you are interested in and then ensure you are applying to the correct provider using the links below:

 NPQLT, NPQLTD, NPQLBC, NPQLPM, NPQSL, NPQH or NPQEL application with the Alliance of Leading learning and LLSE click here.

Stage 2

In addition, you will also need to register your interest on the DfE portal below at Register for a National Professional Qualification (education.gov.uk). Please ensure that you select LLSE when you are asked to identify your Lead Provider.

Stage 3

You should then receive further instructions from LLSE on the next stages of your full application.  The full process involves the requirement for coaches / headteachers to provide their support / approval by email.  At the end of the process you will need to also accept your place.
