First Aid for Mental Health Training

Having staff with First Aid for Mental Health training will enable you to recognise and effectively manage mental health issues within your workforce, improve attendance and productivity, leading to an all-round, more positive working environment for all.

Having a qualified Mental Health First Aider in the workplace provides a point of contact for an employee who is experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress.  The number of working days lost to stress, depression and anxiety in the UK is rising, along with the number of working days lost to serious mental illness. While mental health problems can be hard for your staff to deal with within their personal lives, they can also have a direct impact on staff turnover, absenteeism and reputation.

We offer all three levels of training, as follows:

Level 1 – Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health

This half-day course is suitable for everyone within a workplace as it provides learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions as well as the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost a person towards professional help.

Level 2 – First Aid for Mental Health

This 1-Day course covers the content of the Level 1 course but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

Level 3 – Supervising First Aid for Mental Health

This 2-Day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals. It covers the content of both the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications but is aimed at Trainer/Assessors and/or supervisor level within the workplace.

Training will be delivered by Heather Noble from Salt Solutions who is a First Aid for Mental Health Accredited NUCO Trainer, and all courses will be OFQUAL accredited.  All qualifications are valid for three years.
