Why Train with School Direct?

Want to teach? Here are just a few reasons why you should choose School Direct…

Outstanding mentor support

All trainees receive a flexible and bespoke timetable which scaffolds their learning and offers substantial mentoring to ensure that lesson planning and delivery is of the highest standard. Trainees have a professional mentor in school, in addition to a subject mentor, who delivers comprehensive sessions which include differentiation, classroom management, starters and plenaries. They also communicate with the university mentor to ensure that the trainee is fulfilling the demands of the academic course. Once recruited, trainees attend monthly meetings prior to starting the course to ensure they are fully prepared before formal induction.

Bespoke Training Centre

Marches Training has a brand new centre for delivering teacher training. Trainees have a suite of rooms which provide access to IT support, wifi, interactive white boards and kitchen  and common room facilities.

99% employment rate

The trainees receive additional training in placement two to assist with job applications and interview techniques. Marches training works with a network of schools and can introduce trainees to other schools when vacancies arise. All trainees are added to a database and the co-ordinator keeps in regular contact with trainees to offer support during and after they have completed a placement.

First class admin support

Trainees receive a full induction day to the school so that they are fully aware of all the school procedures and are introduced to the staff prior to commencement of the programme. Many of our trainees are invited into school to observe teaching prior to application. Whilst on placement with The Marches or with a partner school, trainees have access to stationery, computers, printing and copying facilities.

Cluster of 21 primary and 10 secondary schools

The Marches School networks with many different schools across Shropshire, Telford and wider afield. For teacher training in particular we have a cluster of 21 primary schools and 10 secondary schools which includes several independent schools. This large cluster means that we can provide a varied training programme, filling any gaps in the existing school experience that trainees have undertaken. We offer placements Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5.

State of the art facilities

The training centre offers trainees the very latest technology to practise their skills and the school is well equipped with the most up to date teaching tools.

Wide HEI network

Marches Training has excellent relationships with HEIs and continues to explore new relationships in order to meet the demands of developing outstanding teachers of the future.

Strong community ethos

Trainees regularly comment on the strong community presence within the school on a day to day basis. The training team work with the whole school to provide a valuable experience for trainees ensuring that any development they need can be provided for. Trainees have access to all the professional development that is offered to all staff.
